Clarks Hill Lake is a man-made lake located primarily in Lincoln County, Georgia, but also extending into McCormick County, South Carolina. The lake was created by the J. Strom Thurmond Dam on the Savannah River, which was completed in 1954. Clarks Hill Lake is the largest lake east of the Mississippi River and covers approximately 71,000 acres of surface area with over 1,200 miles of shoreline.
